Starting May 31st, 2019, today, Xbox One and PS4 owners have an opportunity to whet their appetites ahead of the release of Σαμουράι Shodown with a free demo that’s available to download from the Microsoft Store or the PlayStation Store… if you’re in Asia.
Gematsu is reporting that the demo is available right now in Japan and other regions in Asia. The demo will be available up until June 20th, 2019 just ahead of the game’s release on June 25th, 2019 for PS4 and Xbox One. You will be required to have an active PlayStation Plus subscription if you want access to the demo. Alternatively, you just need an Xbox account to download the demo on the Xbox One. An active Xbox Live gold subscription is not required. The PC and Nintendo Switch versions of the game are set to arrive later in the year during the winter.
According to the press release issued over on PR Times Japan, SNK revealed that there will be three playable characters, including Haomaru, Nakoruru, and newcome Kurama Yashamaru. If you’re unfamiliar with the new swordsman, IGN recently posted up a trailer showcasing the armored warrior in action, which you can check out below.
You’ll be able to play the three characters across three modes, including Vs Mode against the CPU or against another player, a tutorial mode where you can learn how to play the game and start down the path of sword mastery, and there’s a training mode where you can freely play-test each of the three characters to your heart’s content.
According to the press release the demo will provide you with about two hours worth of content.
You can get your hands on the demo right now if you have a Japanese PSN account or Xbox Live account. You might be able to navigate to the Japanese version of the Microsoft Store to grab the demo for your account as well, but it might require a bit of skill and technique to do so.
