Activision has been milking the Call of Duty franchise after it turned into a mega-billion dollar blockbuster over twenty years ago. However, in recent times they’ve been beefing up their attempts to milk flaccid udders of the thinning franchise cow even further, and this includes remaking the Modern Warfare games and also re-releasing the campaigns of the original Modern Warfare trilogy as remastered editions. The latest rumor covers the potentiality of seeing Modern Warfare 3's campaign remastered for current generation consoles.
WCCF Tech picked up the news from a leaker going by the handle TheGameRevolution. He uploaded a 10 minuter video to YouTube back on April 16th, 2020 claiming that the remastered edition of the game has been done for quite some time, but Activision was waiting for the right moment to release the Σύγχρονος πόλεμος συλλογής.
In the video he claims that this was all part of a deal that Sony struck up with Activision back in 2016, where they wanted gamers to get caught up on the Modern Warfare franchise ahead of the release of the rebooted version of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare that released last year. In the video, however, he states that due to the shootings that took place, the re-release of the remastered games were postponed, especially Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 due to the mission “No Russian”, where you gun down innocent civilians.
His evidence for this is a concept art collection in the museum of Call of Duty: Σύγχρονος Πόλεμος 2 Αναπληρωτής by Beenox, where they point out that it was originally supposed to be released in 2018, but was delayed. The museum Easter Egg also points out that the concept art was part of the Σύγχρονος πόλεμος collection, meaning that there was obviously going to be more than one game.
We know this already because there are two remastered games in the collection so far, so remastering the third game in the Modern Warfare trilogy only makes sense.
There’s no release date and no confirmation about a remastered version of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3's campaign mode, but knowing Activision it’s not a far-fetched rumor at all.
