Dragon Emperors and Blazing Fanfish announced that their latest project, Μαντείο της Ξεχασμένης Διαθήκης, a Touhou Project RPG, is currently available on Steam for $4.99 right now. During the first week of being on sale the game is discounted by 20% off, so you can pick up a copy for only $3.99.

The game is designed in RPG Maker, and according to the CEO of Blazing Fanfish, you can beat the game in one sitting if you’re dedicated enough. Μαντείο της Ξεχασμένης Διαθήκης is designed to be simple enough to pick up and play, but challenging enough to force gamers to put their skull-mush to use and flex the muscles behind their eyes like their life depended on it.

So while it’s true that the game may be short, it’s also true that the game is very challenging. Instead of having a simple tactical, turn-based battle mechanic where you pick your attacks from a list of items and then you see that attack play out on screen, you’ll have to manually input the attack combinations to pull off a move successfully. It utilizes a spellcard and skill ATB system so you’ll always have to be on guard and ready to unleash pain on your foes at the press of a button… or a series of buttons. This adds an additional layer of complexity to the gameplay that otherwise isn’t present in most other RPG Maker titles.

In fact, there’s a surprising bit of depth to the game. Outside of the world map exploration, combat and NPC interaction, there’s also an alchemy mechanic present, where you can scour the game’s world for ingredients to concoct a number of different items to help aid you during battle.

Now the upside is that Dragon Emperors plan on updating the game with new episodes to continue the story. So these will be added automatically as more content becomes available.
